Adler Effeld fights after Derby bankruptcy: Trainer Winkens demands turn!

Birgelen, Deutschland - Adler Effeld faces a critical phase in the current season after the team has lost in two consecutive derbies against the rivals from Orsbeck and Birgelen. Coach Jörg Winkens and the team are disappointed with these results, which are very annoying from their point of view. In particular, Winkens noticed that the first halves of the two games were almost identical: Effeld drove into the break with an early 1-0 lead, but without using the opportunities efficiently.

"In Orsbeck we would have had to lead 3-0, in Birgelen 3: 0 or 4: 0", said Winkens, who looks back on the missed opportunities for leadership. The performance of his team is undoubtedly high, but in both encounters the opponents managed to turn the sheet in the second round and ultimately win 2-1. "We were just not good at the end and were also not lucky," he added, without reducing the merits of the opponents. Birgelen's combative performance surprised him positively.

personnel situation and expectations

Heading availability was an additional challenge for the team. Of the 21 players of the squad, only twelve were ready for use last Sunday. Some players were on vacation, others sick or injured, which made the situation more difficult. So couple of sick players also agreed to support the team as a supplementary player.

Compared to last season, in which Adler Effeld in the Kreisliga B2 was in the promotion battle for a long time, the squad has hardly changed, which further increases the expectations of the services. During the last season, the defense block remained stable and conceded only 25 goals in 20 games. The many goals conceded in the first five games of the new season are therefore all the more surprising: twelve goals already found their way to the Eagle network. The team showed an appealing performance in the 3-2 against the strong Haarener Concordia, while the performances against Ay-Yildizspor II and in the 7: 3 against Millich II disappointed.

ADLER Effeld currently occupies the sixth place in the table, and coach Winkens believes that this position is justified. "We would like to continue to orientate ourselves," he says, optimistically looking at the upcoming games, especially the game against Ratheim, in which the return of some sick players is hoped for. The competitive character of the league allows it that with a small winning streak, the sixth place can quickly become the basis for higher goals. Winkens is confident that Effeld can still tear around the rudder and will increase the training effort to bring the team back on the road to success.

The atmosphere around the team remains tense, but determined. Winkens will continue to set all levers to move the Effelder back to old strength and reconcile the audience for the lost derbies. The entire team knows that every point in this tight league can be decisive, and they are ready to give everything to secure their place in the upper half of the table.
