An important donation from Volksbank Hamm in the amount of 25,000 euros enables the Fablab to buy a state -of -the -art water jet cutter on Banningstrasse. This device will significantly expand the possibilities of the Maker Space and is an important progress for the projects taking place there.
Thanks to the new water jet cutter, materials such as steel can now be precisely processed up to one centimeter thickness and aluminum up to two and a half centimeters. "The device will be of great benefit to our student team, the 'Hammer Engineers', especially when preparing for the next edition of the 'Olympics of Engineering' in Paris," emphasizes Heinz Harling, honorary member of the association. Last year the team was able to win a prize in this renowned competition.
Fablab Hamm: A room for creative minds
The Fablab Hamm-Westfalen e.V. was launched by Jens Kneißel in 2018 and is the only maker Space in Hamm. Here members and interested parties have the opportunity to work with different technologies such as 3D printers, laser cutters and CNC milling. It is an innovative place that regularly offers workshops and events in which new techniques and technologies are conveyed.
The Volksbank emphasizes the importance of this space: "It is a place where people come together to learn, experiment and create new things." This support from the Volksbank is proof of the commitment of the local economy to promote creative and technical talents and to provide them with the necessary resources.
