New stopping in Hamm: Münsteran cone should bring order!
The city administration of Hamm plans to improve the parking and holding situation in front of Heessener Volksbank. This was necessary because the existing ban on holding in front of the bank's receipt is often disregarded, in particular at peak times. The area has been hatched with streaks for many years to clearly mark the ban on stopping.
According to city spokesman Tom Herberg, several citizens have complained about the parked vehicles on the restricted area. Previous measures to regulate the parking regulations, such as the introduction of a tiltable bollard at the turn of 2022/23, have only worked inadequate. The bollard partially prevented this, but led to the fact that vehicles continued to protrude into the intersection and narrowed the bicycle track.
new measure for security
In order to increase security, a Münster cone is now placed closer to the intersection. This new measure is intended to ensure that the area for pedestrians, rollators and wheelchairs remains accessible. The city administration has announced that it will continue to control the effect of the new measure.
The problem of false parking is not only known in Hamm, but also in other cities. Radio Q that the changes in the road traffic regulations provided for an increase in fines for wrong parking from February 2020 in order to improve traffic safety for cyclists.
In Münster, between 2018 and 2019, an increase in advertisements due to false parking was found, which further tightened the situation. The regulatory office monitors the parking situation and distributes nodules or has vehicles towed. Criticism from the population demands more consistent handling of these violations.
