New hope for Uentrop: Provisional A2 connection in sight!

In Uentrop it is boiling: The impending traffic chaos situation during the new buildings of the lipbrücken could be averted! The city and country present an exciting plan for a temporary motorway junction at the A2. This could be created in the Uentrop industrial estate on Siegenbeckstraße and offers new hope for residents and commuters who had prepared for dramatic traffic disruptions.

The city administration had already presented the first considerations for such a connection in the summer of 2023, but the plans seemed almost utopian. Now there is even a second variant that will be presented in a message for the Uentrop district council on November 21. The federal government ultimately decides which of the two solutions is implemented. The first variant that provided a junction on Frielinghauser Straße could encounter difficulties due to protected biotopes. The new, narrower solution provides for "Dutch ramps" that run parallel to the highway and thus offer space for traffic.

The new construction of the dilapidated Lippbrücken will test the traffic situation in the region. Around 10,000 vehicles daily use the connection, and the closures could result in up to 23 kilometers long diversions. The city of Hamm and the state company have recognized the "urgent need for action" and are now working together to advance the planning. The two variants are to be specified by the end of the year in order to enable the federal government's decision -makers.

Mayor Marc Herter is optimistic: "Both solutions can still be implemented in a timely manner." Time is urged, because the construction work on the bridges must be completed by 2026. The residents and traders in Uentrop keep their breath - the hope of a quick solution is tangible!
