Reading day 2023: Prominent voices for the future of the children!

On Friday, November 15th, an exciting event will captivate the bookworm and storyteller all over Germany: the 21st national reading day! This initiative, which has been taking place since 2004 on Friday in November, was launched by the Reading Foundation, the Deutsche Bahn Foundation and the "Zeit". The aim is to spark enthusiasm for reading aloud and to gain volunteers for reading promotion. Because reading aloud is not just fun, but a crucial step for children to become good readers themselves!

Did you know that according to the 2024 reading monitor, there are no reading experiences forming every third child? Regular reading is the key to solid reading skills that lays the foundation for better career opportunities and a positive self -image in adult life. This year's motto "read out the future" could not be more suitable! And the best thing about it? A digital reading festival with prominent readers like Sebastian Fitzek and Peter Maffay will inspire the audience! Your readings are published on the social media channels of the nationwide reading day and the YouTube channel of the Reading Foundation.

a highlight: Johanna Geils in the castle in Hagen

A special highlight of the reading day takes place on November 15th at 7 p.m. in Hagen Castle. The well -known adventurer Johanna Geils, who is known from formats such as "3 to 9", "Das" and "Ard Büffet", will read from her new book "About me the starry sky". In her exciting story, she reports from her five -month journey from Cyprus to the North Cape - and all of this only with a backpack and a hammock! The reading is free, but a registration with the municipality of Hagen in Bremen, F. Tienken, on phone 04746/8766 is required.

By the way: In the Blumenthal library, too, people read diligently on this day! Don't miss the chance to immerse yourself in the wonderful world of stories!
