Netanyahu threatens retaliation: Iranians fired 180 rockets on Israel!

In the tense situation in the Middle East, Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced after a massive rocket attack by Iran on Israel retribution. In a statement, he explained that Iran "made a big mistake", and made it clear that Israel would give answers. At the same time, it remains unclear when and how exactly this retaliation could look. The explosive situation continues to escalate, since Israel attacked the Lebanese capital Beirut again on the night, apparently also as part of his reaction to the Iranian aggression.

On Tuesday, Iran had around 180 rockets attacked, a large part of which was intercepted by Israel's defense mechanisms, supported by a US-led coalition. Nevertheless, there was a death in the West Bank and two injuries in Tel Aviv, while the strokes in Central and Southern Israel fled millions of people to shelter. In particular, two Israeli air force bases and the headquarters of the Mossad secret service were targeted.

The announced reactions of Israel

The Israeli army spokesman Daniel Hagari described the rocket attack as a serious act that endangers security in the Middle East. He emphasized that Israel will react to the place and at the time that it thinks it is right. Media reports indicate that Israel could consider attacking the Iranian nuclear systems, in particular the enrichment systems in Natanz, which are considered central to the Iranian nuclear program. Hagari confirmed that the Air Force was still fully operational and is ready to strike again.

In the early morning hours of Wednesday, the Israeli army announced that it attacked "terrorist destinations in Beirut". Details were not mentioned at first, but Lebanese security sources report at least five air strikes on the southern suburbs of Beirut. Netanyahu described the Iranian attack as failed and confirmed the determination of Israel to take aggressive measures.

the Iranian perspective and the international reaction

The international community reacted concerned to developments. The US security advisor Jake Sullivan described the rocket attack as a significant escalation, although he was classified as largely ineffective. President Joe Biden instructed the US forces in the region to support the defense of Israel and intercept Iranian rockets. Meanwhile, the German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock condemned the attack and issued a serious warning to Iran. The EU also expressed concern about the dangerous cycle of attacks and retaliation.

The current situation in the Middle East is tense and experts see the notebook of action in the hands of Israel. Former Pentagon official Grant Rumley said that the Iranian attack differed from before and could significantly influence the dynamics between the nations. Analysts warn that Israel could use the opportunity to proceed directly against Iran, which could possibly trigger a regional war.

In this context, it is important to consider that the United States and Israel have been viewed as arch enemies since the Iranian Revolution of 1979. The ongoing conflicts in the Middle East, including the tensions in the Gaza strip, could continue to worsen. Experts agree that the situation can further tighten if both sides do not de -escalate and compromise.
