HBW Balingen-Weilstetten fights into the quarter-finals-the next opponent: Coburg!

The HBW Balingen-Weilstetten catapulted itself into the quarter-finals of the trophy with an impressive 36:28 win over the HC Empor Rostock! The "Gauls" successfully mastered the first part of their challenging week. But the way to victory was anything but easy. After a balanced first round, which ended with a 19:19, the team around coach Matthias Flohr had to fight hard to keep the upper hand.

"We have already stumbled", Flohr confesses when Rostock in the meantime took the lead with 21:19. But the Swabians demonstrated fighting spirit and turned the game with an impressive 9: 1 run. "We were a bit more compact after the break in the defense," Flohr explains the secret of success. Mateusz Kornecki, who was still fighting in the first half, became the decisive factor in the final phase. Rostock's Dennis Mehler admits: "The last quarter of an hour was of course too bad."

On the next challenge!

The HBW now has the chance to qualify for the Final Four in Cologne, but the way there leads through the HSC Coburg, which prevailed against TBV Lemgo Lippe. First, however, the focus is on the league. After the victory in Rostock, the team traveled directly to Bissendorf-Holte to train there before continuing to Hagen. On Saturday at 7:30 p.m., the Swabians meet Eintracht Hagen, which has difficulties this season and is in the table cellar.

Flohr warns of underestimating the opponent: "You have outstanding individual players", emphasizes and refers to talents such as Pouya Norouzi Nezhad and Niclas Pieczkowski. In order to be successful, the team has to work closely together in the defense and put the opponent under pressure so as not to let their class develop. The tension increases - the next fight is imminent!
