New kindergarten opened in Sinzenich: A place of hope for 40 children!

Gartenstraße, 53909 Zülpich, Deutschland - A radiant day for the children of the Kita jumping mice in Zülpich-Sinzenich! With a happy shouting, they storm onto the colorful stacking stones that block the entrance to their new home and tear them down. After over three years of waiting, since the devastating flood disaster in 2021 destroyed the old daycare center on Marienbach, the little adventurers are finally allowed to go back to their own facility. "This is a big day today, we have been looking forward to it for a long time," cheered Mayor Ulf Hürtgen (CDU) at the festive inauguration.

The water masses that entered the freshly renovated daycare center in 2021 left a trace of the destruction that no one could predict. After the second flood it was clear: a new location was needed! The city of Zülpich searched for a flood -safe place together with the Erftverband and found it on the garden road in the town center. There was a light yellow, two -storey building with space for 40 children. "We enlarged the daycare center from one to two groups," explains Hürtgen proudly.

The completion of the new daycare took years, characterized by bureaucratic hurdles and delays. The building permit was finally granted in December 2023, and construction work began in January. The start for August was originally planned, but the opening was delayed until October. "Nobody believed a year ago that we are here today," says the emotionally touched parent council chairman Katharina Vogel.

In the meantime, the children of the Kita jumping mice found shelter at the Rotbach-Rackers in difficulty. "It was a difficult time for everyone," said Mayor Hürtgen, who thanks those involved for the great cohesion. The new daycare center cost 2.4 million euros, financed by reconstruction aids, donations and support from the Rhineland Landscape Association (LVR). Kita director Anja Hoscheid is grateful: "You endured and worn us for three years." Now only remains to unpack the last boxes and design the outdoor area, while Pastor Ulrich Zumbusch and Kaplan Michael Stark bless the new facility to protect the children from future floods.
