The decision to increase the fees was made by the parties in the council after the city had to advertise the care of the cemeteries across Europe. The result? A shocking increase in costs by a whopping 300 percent! The city's treasurer has already announced that it will check alternative and cheaper forms of burial in order to offer the citizens a financial relief. A possible option are urn walls that represent a cheaper alternative to conventional coffin graves.

The lifting rate for most properties will not increase as much as originally planned, thanks to an application from the SPD and FDP, which was accepted by the Council. Instead, the trade tax is increased, while the trade is expected to benefit from relief for property tax. These measures are intended to cushion the city's financial challenges, but citizens have to prepare for higher costs.

The coming months could become a real challenge for many in Schleiden, while the city administration is trying to cope with the financial burdens and at the same time to meet the citizens. The developments related to fees and taxes will have to be observed closely!
