Bauchaos in Großbüllesheim: Procter gapslide remains closed until summer 2025!
The renovation of the Procter Group in Euskirchen, a crucial traffic junction, is now delayed again and is not to begin in the summer of 2025. It was originally planned to start the work this summer. After road NRW initially announced a shift to November, it has now been decided that the renovation of the roundabout and the renovation of the state road L 210 will be moved well into the next year.
Torsten Gaber, press spokesman for the State of Street North Rhine -Westphalia, explained the reasons for this decision, which he described as "of special importance". The preliminary examinations showed that the adjacent field, which is intended for the detour route during the construction work, is used in spring as a breeding area for lapwings and partridges. In order not to disturb the animals in their breeding season, the start of construction was postponed to a later date.
A look at the reasons for the delay
In addition to the breeding season of the birds, there are further concerns. Gaber pointed out that winter weather conditions such as ice and snow could also lead to delays. This weather could endanger the timely completion of the construction work by spring. Therefore, it is not excluded that the work will only begin in late summer 2025 and may only be completed later.
The criminal pages of the lapwings and vineyards extend from February/March to July/August. Another aspect is that if the birds feel particularly comfortable on the busy street, further delays cannot be ruled out. These measures are necessary to protect both the animals and to ensure careful planning of the construction work.
scope of the renovation work
The measures on the Procter Group are not only limited to the renovation of the roundabout. Street North Rhine -Westphalia also plans to renovate the L 210 in the section between the B 56 and K 15, i.e. between Kleinbüllesheim and Kuchenheim. According to the state company, this simultaneous implementation could lead to the time being saved - up to three months. The lane of the roundabout, which is in poor condition, urgently needs to be renewed because it has "most massive road damage", says project manager Andreas Groß.
In order to be able to better manage intensive traffic, especially through trucks, a massive construction is sought. The planned solution stipulates that the roundabout receives a concrete lane, while the connecting street branches with cast asphalt or also with concrete are executed. This is intended to ensure that the roundabout can continue to meet the requirements of today's traffic.
Another point that will be observed in connection with the construction site is the traffic routing. The current concept provides a distance of the bypass to use road users to drive from the Erlenhof crossing towards Kuchenheim. According to Groß, this bypass is no longer necessary and would no longer be built today. The elimination of this branch could make it possible to protect green areas significantly better and at the same time the bike traffic, which is supposed to lead to the industrial companies in the area, to make it more secure and more attractive.
In view of these extensive measures, it becomes clear that there is far more behind the renovation of the Procter creep than just a simple surface renovation. The planning and implementation must be particularly careful to take into account both road users and nature. Further details on the planned work and the timeline are at mobil.ksta.de available.
