Future of the training: Despite the decline, Ennepe-Ruhr remains strong!
In the Ennepe-Ruhr district, many young people start their job with company training. According to the current figures from the Southwestern Commerce and Industry Chamber of Hagen (SIHK), a total of 2,891 training contracts in the Hagen, Ennepe-Ruhr-Kreis and Märkischer Kreis were concluded on September 30, 2024. This corresponds to a slight decline of around five percent compared to the previous year, especially in the commercial-technical sector.
Despite these small setbacks, the training market remains alive and offers numerous options. Thomas Haensel, the head of the SIHK responsible for the area of training, is optimistic: "Despite difficult economic conditions, the domestic companies continue to train at a high level in order to secure the specialists of tomorrow". This positive attitude is shown in the efforts of the companies to find new recruitment methods in order to finally win the right young people.
new ways of recruitment
In the past few months, however, a trend has changed: the number of applications on advertised training positions has noticed noticeably. In order to counter this challenge, Haensel recommends using modern platforms such as TikTok and Instagram for the recruitment of apprentices. "These channels offer an excellent way to address young people directly and to inspire for training offers," he explains.
It is particularly important that applicants who may have poorer school grades are not immediately excluded. Haensel makes it clear that an internship not only helps the company but also the young people to show their strengths and potential in practice. "Getting to know each other can be decisive," he emphasizes.
The SIHK also offers support for all those who have not yet found what they were looking for or may have to stop their training. The team of the 'precisely fitting line' is ready to find possible apprenticeships. Interested parties can get advice on the number 02331 390-301.
Overall, the training market offers many opportunities for motivated young people who want to start a professional future despite the challenges. Through innovative approaches, companies can also react to the changed conditions and continue to promote the best talents.
