Schools in the Ennepe-Ruhr-Kreis: 17 projects for a greener future!

An exciting betting bid for creative ideas: The new AVU school competition has chosen the best projects from the Ennepe-Ruhr district! A total of 38 schools presented their innovative concepts, and the selection was anything but easy. With a funding pot of 10,000 euros, 17 projects were awarded, including the three main winners who have emerged with outstanding ideas.

The Elbach School in Wetter stands out: It plans to transform an unused piece of wasteland into a flowering garden, filled with vegetables, wildflowers and herbs. The Schnellmark primary school in Gevelsberg also has big plans - it wants to revive its “green classroom” and invites experts to enable exciting natural observations and experiments. The Loher Nocken special school in Ennepetal is dedicated to the explosive topic of "garbage" and develops innovative approaches to avoidance and collection. Each of these projects receives generous support of 1,000 euros!

But that's not all! Another 14 schools were also awarded and each received 500 euros for their creative projects. The community secondary school Gevelsberg and the Grünstraße Realschule in Hattingen are relying on a joint project for "dispute settlement" in order to solve conflicts among students. Also in Schwelm, Sprockhövel and Ennepetal, many projects that want to make the school environment greenerer.

The projects of the Wassermaus primary school in Ennepetal, which deal with sustainable textiles and teach the students sewing techniques, are particularly remarkable, as well as the school at the lake in Wetter, where refugee students learn German in the "Farbergarten". Ines Wingenbach, the marketing manager of the AVU, is enthusiastic: "We look forward to the implementation of the projects and will continue to support the schools!"
