Nurses in Berlin: Wages rise by 8.8% - what does that mean for us?
Berlin, Deutschland - Berlin - A dramatic turning point in the nursing industry: wages for urgently needed nursing staff in nursing homes have increased in a leap! According to the latest data from the long -term care insurance funds, the average hourly wages increased by breathtaking 8.8 percent to EUR 22.60 compared to the previous year. This was announced by the top association of statutory health insurance, which also represents the long -term care insurance companies. A truly "significant increase" after wages have only risen by two percent annually in recent years!
Doris Pfeiffer, the boss of the association, emphasizes the importance of this development: "The higher average wages in geriatric care show that nursing staff can rely on a fair payment as a whole." But not everything is rosy! The downside of this positive news is that the higher wages often lead to increasing own shares for those in need of care. Pfeiffer therefore calls on politics to finally find solutions to reduce the financial burden of those in need of care.
collective agreements and new wages
An important regulation came into force in September 2022: Supply contracts of the long -term care insurance companies may only be concluded with homes that pay according to tariff or similar. As a result, numerous collective agreements between 2023 and 2024 include wage increases that exceed the previous year's increases. The average wage for nursing assistants without training will in future be 19.26 euros per hour, while the wages for nursing staff will increase by an impressive 9.2 percent to 25.93 euros! This data is based on 11,000 reports of tariff -bound care facilities and show that the industry is in motion.
