Fight against a shortage of skilled workers: region combines forces for MINT future!
An alliance against the shortage of skilled workers is formed in the Bergisches region! The transformation strategy aims to combat the alarming lack of qualified specialists in the automotive industry. Numerous initiatives bundle their strength to intensify the exchange and create synergies. The focus is particularly on promoting young talents in the MINT area. Not only proven formats such as school laboratories and trainees are used here, but also the newly started "Initiative of more girls and women in MINT" of the Ms. and Professional Bergisches Städtedreieck. This initiative has the potential to close the gaps in the automotive supply industry by delighting girls and women for technical professions.
education for everyone!
The check! Student research center Solingen has joined the traiber.nrw project and offers free educational offers for children and adolescents. These programs are particularly important for children from educated families because they make MINT courses accessible. These measures create a broader and more qualified workforce pool, which has a positive effect on the regional labor market. The initiatives in the Bergisches region do everything they can to bring skilled workers together with companies. Free training positions are advertised via various analogous and digital channels to motivate the automotive suppliers to provide internships.
However, the regional transformation strategy goes beyond the shortage of skilled workers. It also includes the topics of internationalization, location attractiveness and exchange of knowledge. "The strategy paper delivers valuable approaches. The goal is not least the preservation of the competitiveness of the suppliers and thus the location as well as the securing of jobs," explains Stephan A. Vindskamp, Managing Director of Automotiveland.NRW e.V. Of a total of 24 measures have already been successfully implemented. Another revision phase of the strategy is planned, with a final version that should be available in mid -May 2025. Regional actors and companies are cordially invited to join the network and actively participate in the future of the automotive industry in the Bergisches region!
