Hunger strike on cruise: Passengers are demanding £ 10,000 reimbursement!
Ushuaia, Argentinien - London - A dramatic scenario unfolds on the high seas! Angry cruise guests have entered a hunger strike to protest the compensation for their shortened journey through the Antarctic. With handwritten signs, you call for the reimbursement of your entire travel expenses of up to £ 10,000 (£ 12,000), as the British "Times" reports.
The provider Swan Hellenic has confirmed the incident and described the reaction of a “small number” of guests as “counterproductive”. A total of around 170 passengers are on board the "SH Diana", who had to deal with a technical problem during their three -week cruise from Cape Town to Ushuaia in Argentina. A defect in one of the drive electromotors meant that the captain had to change the planned route, which significantly shortened the exciting passage along the Antarctic Peninsula.
compensation causes resentment
The passengers are outraged! Many of them felt cheated and complained that they missed the “journey of their lives”. Swan Hellenic offered a reimbursement of 50 percent, which is above the legal claim, or a discount of 65 percent on a future cruise. But not all guests were satisfied with this offer and pushed the crew to higher compensation. The ship will arrive in Ushuaia on Saturday, where technicians go on board to repair the "SH Diana" for the next trip.
