Vocational trade fair future: Successful conversations bring trainees!

In the Ennepe-Ruhr district, the “Future EN” vocational training fair recently took place, which has already become a popular meeting place for companies and future specialists. This year, 110 companies and institutions took part in the trade fair to talk to numerous applicants. In view of the current situation on the training market, where around 75 applicants come to 100 apprenticeships, this is of great importance for employers. The demand for trade fair places was correspondingly high, which is why the event in Witten and Ennepetal was even fully booked.

The Gevelsberg company Haas street and civil engineering was particularly active. When they first participate, they took the opportunity to give young people an insight into their working world and to promote professions in road and civil engineering. At their exhibition stand, they sketched directly how fulfilling it is to be able to see the results of their own work at the end of a working day. Daniel Schlaack from the EN agency, which the fair has been organizing for over a decade, emphasized that the relaxed atmosphere and the family interaction in the company particularly caught the eye of the young people.

a successful start to the future

The use and openness of the Haas company paid off quickly: just three days after the fair, a training contract for 2024 could already be signed. After celebrating their premiere in Witten, they also decided to take part in another “future” appearance and actively search for two additional trainees for the coming training year. State Secretary Paul Höller from the NRW Ministry of Economic Affairs and Katja Kamlage, Managing Director of the EN agency, did not miss the opportunity to personally get an idea of the fair and the discussion.

Katja Kamlage drew a consistently positive record of the event. "Our 2024 trade fairs are encouraging. The response from the companies was again very high. We were able to offer more than 3,100 young people at two locations in the Ennepe-Ruhr district the opportunity to find out more about professional entrances," she said. Various framework programs also contributed to the positive result, including a workshop for inclusion in companies and exhibitions that stimulated students to try out professions that are considered atypical for their gender. In Ennepetal, the hands -on program was a popular highlight that gave visitors the opportunity to live out their creativity and discover their talents.

Overall, the fair shows that the dialogue between companies and young people is also of great importance at a time when applicants are rare. Thanks to the committed measures of the companies and institutions, as well as preventive programs, the region will continue to work on a future with well -trained specialists. The developments at the "Future EN" trade fair offer a glimmer of hope for the training landscape in the Ennepe-Ruhr-Kreis, where the focus is on the initiative and openness of the companies. Investments in this dialogue are crucial for the development of professionally qualified workers that will be needed in the next few years.
