Ampel coalition breaks: FDP demands immediate new elections!
Berlin, Deutschland - Berlin is in turmoil! After the dramatic from the traffic light coalition, FDP parliamentary group leader Christian Dürr is calling for an immediate change of course to new elections. "The Federal Chancellor has decided to dissolve the government in a disordered manner and wait until January. I think that is wrong," said Dürr in the ARD "Morgenmagazin". He urges Olaf Scholz to quickly ask the question of trust to end political uncertainty.
Dürr is not only in his criticism. His party has proposed an orderly resignation to quickly initiate new elections. "I was surprised that the proposal for new elections came out so quickly," he said angry about the circumstances. The dispute within the traffic light coalition accumulated for weeks and culminated on Wednesday evening in a dramatic turn: Chancellor Scholz dismissed finance minister Christian Lindner!
Scholz under pressure
Matthias Miersch, General Secretary of the SPD, did not leave good hair on the FDP and its boss in the "Morgenmagazin". "Christian Lindner really abused Olaf Scholz's trust," complained Miersch and demanded more responsibility from Lindner. Scholz always tried to smooth the waves, but the continuous dispute led the coalition to the edge of the abyss.
The political landscape in Germany is facing a change, and the demands for new elections are louder. The next steps of the government are uncertain while the citizens hope for a solution. The tension increases - it remains to be seen how things will happen!
