Full closures on the A40: Chaos on the Kaiserberg cross threaten!

Duisburg, Deutschland - In the Ruhr area, drivers are facing extensive road construction work by March 2025. The A40 is fully blocked in four stages to carry out renovation work at the Kaiserberg motorway junction in Duisburg. The A3 and A40 meet there, which will have a significant impact on traffic in the region.

The first full closure begins on Friday, January 17th, and ends on Monday, January 20, 2025. This block affects both directions. The second full closure takes place from Thursday, January 23, until Monday, January 27th, and only affects the direction of travel. In the third blocking phase, which lasts from Friday, January 31st to Monday, February 3, the direction of travel Venlo is blocked. Finally, the last full closure from Friday, February 28th, until Monday, March 3, 2025, is intended, with restrictions to be expected in both directions.

construction progress and diversions

In the coming weeks, a protective scaffolding for the central structure A3/A40 will be built over the A40. This step is part of the construction work, which also affects the superstructure of the bridge construction. The preparatory work for the construction of the protection scaffolding could significantly impair the A40, such as Autobahn.de reported.

After the full closures, traffic on the A40 is directed in both directions by narrowed lanes. In all closures, diversions are signposted to ensure the flow of traffic during the construction work, as well as Ruhr24 reported.
