Düsseldorf: Stars in the Schauspielhaus stand up for refugees!
Düsseldorf. A moving evening in the Schauspielhaus Düsseldorf, where prominent actors such as Bjarne Mädel, Mechthild Großmann and Oliver Mommsen set an impressive sign for the refugee crisis.
at 8:15 p.m., when the iconic "crime scene" melody sounds, the space is transformed into a place of compassion and grief. The pianist Aeham Ahmad, known as "pianist from the ruins", touches the hearts of the spectators with his music. Ahmad, who comes from a Palestinian refugee camp in Damascus, fled IS in 2015 and is now playing in Germany to draw attention to the fate of refugees. That evening the terrifying record of 30,000 drowned people in the Mediterranean has been discussed since 2014, a number that illustrates the urgency of the sea rescue.
an urgent plea for human rights
Mechthild Großmann, who steps in for the sick Nina Kunzendorf, reads moving texts about the fates of refugees. The stories range from a Syrian father who wants to bring his nephew to Europe, to a 15-year-old boy from Guinea who flees before the civil war. The reports are characterized by hunger, violence and brutal reality in Libya, where refugees often become victims of abuse. The actors, including Bjarne Mädel and Peter Kurth, present these stories with factual seriousness that shows the spectators the tragedy of the situation.
The event is supplemented by the voices of the sea rescuers, which report the unsustainable conditions under which they have to work. The criticism of the “Libyan coast guard”, which is supported by Europe, causes a stir. The organization SOS Humanity, which is committed to saving refugees, receives the applause of scenes for their clear attitude against the right -wing extremist migration policy of the EU. Aeham Ahmad delights the audience with his piano pieces, including an improvised version of Beethoven's "Joy of beautiful gods" and the song "The thoughts are free", which decides the evening with a powerful sign of hope.
