Moers and Comics: Ruhr area becomes the stronghold of humor art!

In an exciting turn for comic culture in the Ruhr area, two museums are created that are supposed to make the region a hotspot for comic fans! In Oberhausen, the Moerseum is planned, which is dedicated to the unique work of Walter Moers. At the same time, a museum for US comics is launched in Dortmund, which will make the hearts of fans beat faster!

Walter Moers, the master of imagination and humor, has created a universe with his stories about the fictional continent Zamonia that has been inspiring readers for 25 years. His works, which range from bizarre adventures to ingenious satires, not only revolutionized the comic world, but also blurred the boundaries between literature and comic. The current exhibition in the Ludwiggalerie Schloss Oberhausen, "What is there to laugh?", Show the funny art of Moers' and attracts numerous visitors. In the meantime, a new exhibition about the US series "Die Simpsons" is being prepared in the Dortmund Comic + Cartoon showroom.

The planned museums: a new chapter for comics

The moerseum in Oberhausen could be a real paradise for comic lovers! Curator Christine Vogt has big plans: "Walter Moers has promised that we were given his preliminary, which of course would be an incredible gift." The museum should not only show Moers' works, but also present other important comic authors and could thus become the European Comic Center. In Dortmund, on the other hand, a location for the Comic Museum is already looking for a location, which is supposed to build on the great success of the showroom. Alexander Braun, the curator, is convinced: "Dortmund will be a comic museum city."

The comic exhibitions in both cities attract a wide audience and show the cultural importance of this art form. While Oberhausen wants to focus on the German comic scene, Dortmund plans to focus on US comics. The two museums could complement each other perfectly and make the Ruhr area the new center of comic culture!
