Nordkirchen awarded: E-load wheels conquer the streets!

A groundbreaking idea from Nordkirchen inspires the nation! Since autumn 2022, citizens have been able to experience exciting adventures with e-cargo bikes, and now this innovative initiative has been awarded a prestigious price. Robin Berkemeier and his family are already using this practical alternative to the car and thus show how easily electromobility can be integrated into everyday life. It is not just a bike - it's an environmentally friendly revolution!

In Nordkirchen, it was recognized that it doesn't always have to be the car. Therefore, a smart loan system was launched, which provides electrically operated cargo bikes. The municipality has obtained three of these modern bikes and the project "Digital e-cargo bike sharing in the Coesfeld district" initiated a wave of enthusiasm. More and more municipalities are joining this future -oriented approach, and the result is breathtaking: an award in the nationwide competition "at home on the road. Mobile in rural areas"! This is recognition of outstanding mobility solutions, and Nordkirchen is now one of the best 20 projects that Germany has to offer.

important milestones and future visions

On October 24, a delegation, including Niklas Esser and Mayor Sebastian Täger from the Senden municipality, and Mathias Raabe from the Digital agency Kreis Coesfeld received the winning certificate. The price of 5,000 euros is not only understood as a financial incentive, but also as a sign of the remarkable innovative strength in rural areas. The concept is simple, but awesome: With an app, the e-cargo bikes can be easily reserved and paid for. Access takes place via a keyless garage that is equipped with a photovoltaic system and is always ready to meet the latest mobility needs.

The success story of Nordkirchen is simply inspiring! Climate protection manager Janine Eßmann emphasizes that the idea was born in 2021 to stimulate the citizens to discover new, environmentally friendly forms of mobility. "We have created something that benefits all residents instead of supporting some," emphasizes Eßmann. In the community, three cargo bikes are already available at strategically cheap locations, and the trend towards imitation is growing rapidly. This movement could electrify all of Germany!
