Specialists from abroad: Coesfeld's companies rely on integration!

Coesfeld - In the middle of a dramatic shortage of skilled workers, many companies focus on the international markets! The fourth employer forum in the Coesfeld district has devoted itself to this burning topic. Organized by the WFC Wirtschaftsförderung, the Coesfeld Employment Agency, the district craftsmanship and the IHK Nord Westfalen, the challenge of skilled workers from abroad was placed on the agenda. "The way is not easy, but it is worth it, because the specialists are highly motivated," emphasizes Raqfael Borgmann, managing director in the Annengarten in Dülmen-Buldern.

Reality for the nursing trainees from Cameroon is often an exciting journey with two suitcases and a lot of commitment! Borgmann has hired eight trainees from China, Indonesia and Cameroon in the past three years. The bureaucratic process from the first contact to the job start can take up to twelve months. To make integration easier, Borgmann rented apartments for the trainees and fully equipped them. "Unfortunately, to cover the way to work with public transport is not compatible with our service times on the weekends," he explains. Even before arrival, he opens an account for the trainees and pays a salary advance to cover the first costs.

Monika Leiking from Service Onboarding@Münsterland presented the valuable support offers that are intended to help companies overcome the hurdles of the generation of skilled workers. This includes comprehensive information on visiting skills abroad and on the skilled worker immigration law. "We show the employers what paths they can go to find specialists and bring to Germany," explains Leiking. From spring 2025, workshops will be planned that will lead companies step by step through the process of skills and onboarding.
