In the Coesfeld district, there is reason to be happy: The latest debtor atlas from Creditreform shows that over -indebtedness is here at a historical low! With less than 10,000 over -indebted people, Coesfeld remains the region with the lowest debtor rate in the Münsterland. A remarkable success that puts the concerns about economic uncertainties and increasing unemployment in the shade.
But while Coesfeld shines, there are also dark clouds on the horizon. In the entire Münsterland, the proportion of people who are in serious financial difficulties increases for the first time since 2016. Despite the positive development in Coesfeld, the trend is worrying. The fear of global crises and the need to save have made people get better under control. Nevertheless, the Creditreform's Council remains clear: over -indebtedness should be avoided right from the start, and timely advisory services are essential. Politicians also have to act and create more affordable apartments to support people.
A look at the numbers
The current economic situation has caused many Germans to deal with their money more carefully. This has caused the over -indebtedness in the Coesfeld district to decrease. While the city of Billerbeck now has the lowest debt ratio in the region, the general tendency in North Rhine-Westphalia and all of Germany is slightly declining. But the increasing number of people who are caught in debt trap raises questions and shows that the challenges are far from overcome.
