Andreas Denker: New military director in Ascheberg with big plans!
Andreas Denker discovered his passion for the fire brigade early on. Three months after taking office as the new military director of the municipality of Ascheberg, he says: "My professional goal has always been the fire brigade". Born in 1982 in Werneck, a small town in Lower Franconia, Denker grew up as the son of a deputy fire brigade commander. "The fire brigade was the center of the action, next to the football club," says the 42-year-old with a smile. At the age of 15, he founded the local youth fire brigade with friends in 1997 and created the corresponding structures. After the secondary school, he began studying security technology with a focus on fire and explosion protection in Wuppertal in 2001, where he also gained practical experience in an engineering office for fire protection concepts.
his professional career led him to Siemens in Krefeld in 2008, where he worked as a system engineer for fire protection. But the longing to go to the fire brigade always remained present. In 2020, Denker applied to several work fire brigades and the fire brigade institute in Münster, where he was finally accepted. There he teaches today as a lecturer. "The fire brigade is like a family. Almost every week I meet acquaintances from the villages," he says.
Rainer Koch's successor
since July 1, thinker, as the military director of the municipality of Ascheberg, has taken responsibility for all three fire trucks in Davensberg, Ascheberg and Herbern. He followed Rainer Koch, who worked as an honorary officer for over six years. In addition to his firm job as a lecturer, Denker is investing an additional ten hours a week in his voluntary work. "The tasks are becoming more and more diverse and the missions are increasing," he explains, emphasizing that it becomes more difficult to find people who are willing to work on a voluntary basis on days off.
Denker has already developed solutions to counter these challenges: "I would like to modernize a better distribution of the tasks and the organizational structure across the location". He also talks about the positive cooperation with the community and emphasizes that the fire brigade enjoys the support of the administration. This is documented, among other things, by the construction of the new tool shed in Herbern and the new building on the Hattrupweg.
The fire brigade of the municipality carries over 200 missions annually. As a rule, Denker as a boss does not work himself, unless the district fire chief is also on site: "I am there in such a case," he smiles. With his commitment and visionary ideas, Andreas Denker seems well equipped for the challenges that his role as a military leader brings. Further insights can be found in an article by www.wn.de .
