Renery in the district of Borken: Police raise the alarm for speeds!

In the Borken district, the police caused a sensation this week when they increasingly acted against the main cause of traffic accidents - the excessive speed of the vehicles. A road user was caught in Ahaus, which drove more than twice the permitted speed of 30 km/h. This example illustrates a growing problem that the law enforcement officers in the region have to face.

speeding is a serious topic in the district of Borken and are among the most common reasons for traffic accidents, often also with serious consequences for uninvolved third parties. For this reason, the traffic service of the district police authority Borken carried out speed controls at 14 measuring points. When checking a total of 3,463 vehicles, 371 drivers were targeted who were traveling too quickly. This means that about eleven percent of the drivers tested had exceeded the permissible speed.

controls and consequences

The police took measures: 33 speed violations led to fine procedures, and in 338 cases the civil servants raised warning funds. These actions are not only intended to hold traffic offenders into account, but also to raise awareness of the dangers of excessive speeds.

The measured top speeds at some control points were particularly alarming. In town in Heiden, a vehicle was measured at 53 km/h at permitted 30 km/h, which is a massive exceeding. A similar picture was also shown outside of closed towns: a driver was stopped at a maximum of 50 km/h in Bocholt, on the Sporkener Ringstrasse. The Nordkreis did not fall behind, because here in Ahaus on Fuistingstrasse a vehicle was found at 63 km/h at allowed 30 km/h.

The repeated exceedance of the speed regulations prove the need for such controls in order not only to grasp the pace sinners, but also to increase traffic safety preventively. The district police authority therefore urgently appeals to all road users to observe the speed limits and to drive responsibly.

The identified violations underline how important it is to continue to act against speeding in order to avoid the consequences of accidents mentioned above. The police will continue to continue the controls and hopes for better driving behavior in the population.
