District Borken celebrates 50 years: Ceremony with NRW Minister President!
Borken, Deutschland - The district of Borken will celebrate its 50th anniversary on March 14, 2025. The district was founded in 1975 as part of the municipal reorganization in North Rhine-Westphalia. The district emerged from the former districts of Ahaus and Borken as well as the independent city of Borken. District Administrator Dr. Kai Zwicker has already announced that the anniversary is particularly recognized.
Due to the tense budgetary situation, the activities to celebrate the anniversary are financially “narrow”. The New Year's reception planned for January 2025 is eliminated. The ceremony for the anniversary celebration will take place in the Borken district house and loaded guests from the public life of the Westmünsterland. NRW Prime Minister Hendrik Wüst will give a speech at the celebration.
Special mentions and partnerships
As part of the ceremony, the 25th anniversary of the partnership with the Polish district of Wroclaw/Wroclaw is also recognized. This partnership emerged from a violating initiative of the Bundesheimatgruppe Breslau-Land, which was an amalgamation of the former German residents of the relevant space. Interested parties can be found on the Website of the district of Borken an informative contribution to the origin and development of the district.
Additional information on the history of the Borken district describe that the reorganization was initiated 50 years ago by the Kösting Commission. A working group of the Commission met in the Ahauser Kreishaus, where Ahauser senior district director Karl Rudolph explained his ideas for reorganization. The entire process was described as a "difficult birth", such as bbv-net.de reported.
