Locking the A40 near Bochum: Bridge almost ready, but patience asked!

Locking the A40 near Bochum: Bridge almost ready, but patience asked!

The A40 near Bochum remains closed for drivers longer than originally planned! The busy highway will only be released for traffic in three weeks. Autobahn GmbH has announced today that the closure at the Schlachthof Bridge cannot be lifted as intended at the end of November. Instead, the release is expected to take place on the second weekend in December, provided that the weather plays with.

Current construction site development

At the large construction site, intensive asphalt work is currently underway, while the first half of the new slaughterhouse bridge is almost completed. The dilapidated old bridge was torn down and the new building is in full swing. However, drivers have to prepare for the fact that the A40 has been blocked since the beginning of August, which leads to significant traffic disruptions.

The good news: The second part of the bridge will be built in the coming year, without the A40 having to be completely blocked again. The construction work is heavily weather -dependent, which also makes planning more difficult. Drivers can therefore hope for an early discharge if the closure is finally lifted!
