Prices in northern Saxony 2025: Where do the costs fall and where not?

A mixed picture of the prices for energy, water, garbage and daycare contributions is emerging for 2025 in western northern Saxony. According to a report by the LVZ the prices for energy will decrease, while garbage and parental contributions are increased in various municipalities.

For the model budget in the region, which consumes 2500 kWh of electricity, the electricity bill is reduced by 140 euros to a total of 1093 euros, which corresponds to a decrease of 11%. The gas prices also show a decline, especially in Schkeuditz with a price of 1956 euros for households with a consumption of 17,500 kWh, which represents the cheapest price in the region.

While the energy costs are incurred, parental contributions increase in two thirds of the municipalities. In Schkeuditz, the contributions for the crib increase by 27% and 29% for kindergarten. For example, a crèche place for a child who spends 9 hours in the facility now costs 285 euros, which corresponds to an increase of 61 euros

The water prices in Eilenburg-Wurzen will increase by 15% by a new calculation from 475 to 545 euros for 160 m³ of water. Stability of the prices will be expected in Eilenburg, Wurzen and Bad Düben by the end of 2026. Also the wastewater prices rise: in Eilenburg by 8%, while Schkeuditz, Taucha and Delitzsch will only start the price change process from 2026.

The garbage prices also increase, with a two-person household increasing from 114 euros to 127 euros, which corresponds to an increase of 12%. In Eilenburg, an increase of 27% is expected, while prices in Eilenburg remain cheaper than in the rest of the district.
