Construction site chaos: A40 near Bochum remains closed for longer!

Bochum. The A40 remains a problem child! The hoped-for release of the motorway between the Westkreuz and the Bochum Harpen junction will be delayed. Instead of the longed -for relief, drivers have to adjust to further restrictions.

The full closure that has existed for months will not be lifted as planned in November. Autobahn GmbH has now announced that the construction work will continue until December. The situation on the construction site is tense and the pictures clearly show that there is still a lot to do. The drivers must continue to be patient and prepare them on diversions.

Construction work delays

Those responsible, including Susanne Schlenga from the Communication Autobahn NRW, Elfriede Sauerwein-Braksiek, director Autobahn NRW, and Lars Batzer, project manager Neubau Schlachthofbrücke, explained the current status of the work in a press conference. The delays are a tart setback for all commuters and road users who had hoped for a quick solution. The construction work is complex and require more time than originally planned.

The Autobahn GmbH has assured that everything is done to complete the construction site as soon as possible. But reality shows that drivers must continue to expect traffic jams and diversions. The patience of road users is put to the test while the construction work is in length.
