Waffe arrest or defeat? At a time perspective on the Ukraine conflict
In the past few months, the Ukraine conflict has busy the international community. The debates about the future stability and the fate of Ukraine achieve a new dimension: a military victory in Ukraine is considered unrealistic. In view of the impending defeat of the country, the pressure on the actors of international politics is greater in order to find an alternative scenario.
Andreas Zumach, an experienced journalist and former correspondent at the UN, will respond to the challenges and opportunities that arise in the current situation. He emphasizes that the only way to prevent further escalation must be promoted by an armistice and negotiations. An internationally guaranteed contract between the warring parties could be the key to creating long -term peace. The legitimate security interests of all those involved must be taken into account.
The lecture will take place on October 24, 2024, from 6:00 p.m. in the Center for Interdisciplinary Research (ZIF) in the plenary hall in Bielefeld. Admission is free.
Before that, Andreas Zumach was active as an eyewitness for many years and was able to take part in various important conferences, including the Munich Security Conference. These experiences give him a unique perspective on the east-west relationships and the dynamics of the conflict. In his explanation, the necessary conditions and possible content will be discussed for a dialogue between Russia and Ukraine.
In addition, he will respond to the role of Germany and other actors who can contribute to the end of the conflict. His explanations promise to raise light on the urgent questions that many readers and spectators deal: What steps have to be taken to promote peace in the region? And how can the international community help?
The event is considered a significant step in the discussion about the future of Ukraine. Interested parties are invited to find out more about the complex relationships and the course of the conflict, while at the same time gaining access to sound information and analyzes from experts. Admission is free, so that the event is also accessible to a wider audience.
