Sturm warning for OWL: violent gusts up to 85 km/h threaten today!

In East Westphalia-Lippe, mild weather is expected for the coming week after an icy weekend. The German Weather Service (DWD) has published an official warning of storm gusts for Bielefeld and the districts of Paderborn, Lippe, Gütersloh, Herford, Minden-Lübbecke and Höxter. The warning is valid for the period from around 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. The gusts of wind can reach speeds between 70 km/h and 85 km/h and come from the southwestern direction. From 8 a.m. there are also gusts of wind up to 60 km/h, with the possibility of local gusts.

In addition, a warning of storm gusts is also pronounced for the rest of North Rhine-Westphalia. Hurricane -like gusts are particularly possible in the mountain country. The DWD recommends securing freely standing objects and attaching covers to minimize the risk of falling branches and flying objects. From Monday evening the wind should drop again.

temperatures and weather development

On Monday, the meteorologists expect the temperatures in Bielefeld and Gütersloh up to 13 degrees, while Paderborn, Höxter, Minden, Herford and Detmold should record a maximum of 12 degrees. In the night of Tuesday, however, it cooled down noticeably, with a maximum of 7 degrees on Tuesday and a maximum of 4 degrees on Wednesday. After the mild Monday it gets very windy again. Already last weekend, the DWD had published a weather warning for East Westphalia-Lippe due to slush and over-frozen rain, which led to smoothness, with the location on the streets mostly relaxed, like nw.de reported.

In addition, wetterfahren.de informed about the weather on Tuesday morning. A storm low over southern Norway leads to storm gusts on the lake and in the mountain country, while hurricane -like gusts are expected in North Friesland. In addition, snow showers, frost and smoothness can be expected in the mountains, while black ice is also possible in the southeast. The snow forecast provides for the Alps of 1-5 cm above 800 m and 10-15 cm above 1000 m. In the western and central low mountain ranges, 1-5 cm of fresh snow above 600 m.
