Drama in Paderborn: Senior in nursing home seriously injured!
Paderborn - A tragic incident occurred on Friday morning in a nursing and care home on Neuhäuser Straße when a fire broke out and brought a 71-year-old resident in mortal danger. The older gentleman suffered serious fire injuries after his clothes had caught fire for unknown reasons.
The fire was discovered around 8:45 a.m. when an attentive nurse heard a call for help from the 71-year-old's room. She found the burning man and reacted promptly by using a fire extinguisher to extinguish the flames. Immediate first aid was provided by other nurses, but the condition of the man was critical.
rescue measures and consequences for the nursing staff
The alarmed emergency doctor recognized the severity of the situation and immediately asked for a rescue helicopter to promote the seriously injured man to a clinic in Bielefeld. In order to enable the landing of the helicopter on Neuhäuser Straße, the road was closed until 10:00 a.m.
In the middle of the rescue measures, five employees of the nursing staff were also affected. These had inhaled smoke and also had to be brought to hospitals. The age groups of the employees concerned extended from 28 to 58 years, with four women and one man being handed over to medical care.
The Paderborn criminal police confiscated the fire site in order to carry out detailed investigations into the cause of the fire. The sad incident raises questions, in particular about the security measures in care facilities that are responsible for the security of vulnerable people.
The circumstances that led to this dangerous fire are still unclear, and the investigation by the police will be crucial to clarify how this terrible situation could occur. This tragedy underlines the need for safety precautions and fast action in the event of emergencies in care facilities.
