New boss in the Aachen prison: Dr. Schäfer leads the future!

Universitätsstraße 33, 58097 Hagen, Deutschland - A remarkable change in the correctional landscape of North Rhine-Westphalia: Dr. Jörg-Uwe Schäfer, an experienced law enforcement lawyer, has been appointed the new head of the Aachen correctional facility. He succeeds Elke Krüger, who retired at the end of September 2024. Dr. Schäfer has an impressive career, which led him through various positions in the prison system in Rhineland-Palatinate and Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania to the management of the JVA Hagen, where he was last active. His extensive experience in the re-socialization of criminals should now also benefit the Aachen correctional facility, as Land.nrw reports .

The Hagen correctional facility plays a central role in the North Rhine-Westphalian prison system by serving as the first stop for male prisoners, which are then distributed into other detention centers. On October 25th there will be a public panel discussion that deals with the function and effects of this centralized adhesion procedure. Dr. Schäfer will also take part in the discussion in order to share his perspectives as the new head of JVA Aachen. The event is an opportunity for the citizens of Hagen to ask questions and get insights into the prison, especially with regard to the challenges and resource bottlenecks in the judicial system.
