Skeleton find in Esens: puzzling bones discovered after 50 years!
in Eastern Eastern Frisian, located in the Wittmund district, recently caused a sensation when several human bone fragments came to daylight. The discovery occurred during road renovation work, with the bone parts found about 80 centimeters under the existing road. The police informed that these remains may be in the ground for over 50 years, possibly even over 100 years.
After the discovery, the bone fragments were sent to the Institute of Forensic Medicine in Oldenburg for examination. The experts confirmed that the finds are human remains. In order to gain more information, the police, together with experts from the East Frisian landscape in Aurich, were continued at the site.
Investigations set
The police authorities quickly found that there were no forensic traces or indications of an unexplained missing person. Therefore, the investigation has been set. The officials conclude that the bones could be part of a removed material that was disposed of at this point during another building campaign in 1971. However, the origin and precise assignment of the bones are no longer understandable.
The fact that the police do not run out of a possible crime soothes the residents and the construction workers on site. According to the “Nordwest-Zeitung”, the remains found was not a tragic result of a crime, but rather about the material of previous construction work.
This discovery is not only relevant for historical interest, but also raises questions about the practices of previous construction projects. While the precise circumstances of the bone find remain unclear, it should be noted that the situation does not reveal any current crimes or missing cases, which reduces the worries of the community.
