Vote procedure for Mayor Heike Horn: What does that mean for Langeoog?
Langeoog. drama on the North Sea island of Langeoog! Mayor Heike Horn cannot continue her office for personal reasons. A brave step - the local council now unanimously voted for a deselection procedure!
In a historical session there was no stopping! The MPs of the East Frisian island ventured the decisive step and voted for the initiation of the deselection procedure against the independent Heike Horn. Ralf Heimes, the general representative of the mayor, proudly announced that a clear majority voted among the council members for the proceedings. In order to put the law into force under the Lower Saxony Local Constitution Act, at least three quarters of the ten members had to agree. It was an actual bang!
council decision and possible consequences
Already about two weeks ago, all council members showed a clear sign: the application for voting was signed by everyone. Now Langeoog is facing a crucial phase. Within the next four months, the voters will be called to the urns, unless Horn is considering their resignation beforehand. Such a resignation must be announced within a week after the Council's decision. What will you decide?
The local council clearly sees the need for action: "The island community now needs a reliable and competent leadership to counter the challenges in the areas of shipping and tourism." Time is pushing and the train drivers of the island are determined to avoid a long vacancy in the leadership.
Similar scenarios occurred on other North Sea islands, as in the case of Wangerooge, where confidence in the then mayor was severely shaken and a deselection was necessary. However, such decisions can have far -reaching consequences that extend beyond the political borders.Details | |
