Wilhelmshaven, Deutschland - The city of Wilhelmshaven celebrated its sporty heroines with a glamorous evening of honor! Over 70 outstanding athletes were honored for their impressive achievements and were able to look forward to valuable badge in gold, silver and bronze. An absolute highlight was the honor of the silver medalist of the Olympic Games in Paris, Lukas Mertens, who, as the former handball player of the WHV community, celebrates a glamorous return to the public.

Mayor Carsten Feist was enthusiastic: "I only look here in happy faces!". The athletes had every reason to be happy, because they achieved sensational placements at the state level and even higher last year. Particularly noteworthy is the triathlete Horst Greb, which received gold for his World Cup participation, as well as the talented windsurfer Lasse and Markus Brudek, who were also able to take home shiny awards. In addition to the individual services, Frank Kothe, the long-time director of the North Sea triathlon, was honored for his commitment.

Feist knew that the sport offers even more than just top performances. "This area opens doors to popular sports where social contacts are created - the association is a second family for many," says its moving words. So that not enough, the city also has good news for the financial future of sport: the sports policy budget of 270,000 euros per year is secured! This not only gives active security, but also shows the responsibility of the city to invest in sporting infrastructure. The new BBS-Vierfeldhalle will soon become a reality, and the plans for building in the city north are already in the works!

The mayor was pleased with the upcoming showport show, which is due to take place on November 30th in the North Frost Arena, and promised sold out ranks. "This is the performance show of the Wilhelmshaven clubs!"
