Wilhelmshaven: 250 million euros for new marine service buildings!

In a spectacular step to strengthen Germany's marine infrastructure, the construction work for expanding the largest naval base in Wilhelmshaven has started! With a huge investment volume of over 250 million euros, this project will be one of the largest of its kind for the Navy over the next ten to 15 years. The norder extension extends over impressive 34 hectares - this corresponds to almost 48 soccer fields! A truly monumental project that is supposed to secure the future of the German Navy.

The need for this expansion is clear: The introduction of the new F126 frigates is imminent! The first of a total of six frigates ordered are to be delivered in 2028. To support this, six new, three -storey service buildings are built, which are specially designed for the crews of the frigates and the employees of the Bundeswehr logistics center. But that's not all - in the coming year, eleven new accommodation buildings should also be created in order to meet the increasing requirements.

"With the new company buildings, we lay an important foundation for the future willingness to use and care of the navy," emphasizes Sönke Gebken, head of the Wilhelmshaven regional office in state construction management. Strict safety requirements were taken into account when planning the construction work, and great importance was placed on sustainability. The completion of the new buildings is planned for 2027, which only increases the anticipation for the upcoming changes!

Wilhelmshaven remains the central hub of the German Navy, with around 9,000 soldiers and civilian employees who work here. In addition to the naval base, this location also includes the Marinearsenal and the Logistics Center of the Bundeswehr. In recent years, numerous infrastructure measures have already been taken to meet the new requirements. The Wester extension brought new service rooms, accommodations and training institutions - and now it continues with the extension of the norder!
