Heiner Holzhausen: Future of the museum port in Wilhelmshaven in view!
In Wilhelmshaven, Heiner Holzhausen burns for the museum port! The 80-year-old graduate in business administration and passionate volunteers remain active as a consultant despite his retreat from the port economy association. His commitment to the historical steamship "Captain Meyer" and the future of the port is unbroken. "Why are waiting for the virtual harbor tour until 2026? This can be implemented in parallel to the shipbuilding measures!" He asks with emphasis.
Holzhausen, who worked for over 30 years as a manager at the Nord-West Oelleitung (NWO) GmbH, has made a name for himself in the past two decades as a treasurer and board member of the Hafenwirtschafts-Vereinigung (WHV). "The bureaucracy and high environmental regulations make it difficult to invest in Germany," he says. But despite the challenges, he remains optimistic and is still committed to maritime topics and environmental protection.
a life for the port
his career began in Giffhorn, but love for Wilhelmshaven couldn't let him go. Holzhausen not only helped shape the first eight-hole golf course, but also initiated numerous projects for the museum port. "We want to transfer our circle of friends to the support association of the coastal museum and actively search for curious young people," he explains full of enthusiasm. He likes to spend his free time with his wife Inge on a trip or with the racing bike in southern Europe. But now he has more time for his volunteering - and that is important to him!
