Festival service for soldiers: Peace in the fourth Advent!

on Sunday, December 22, 2024, ZDF radiated the "Evangelical Service" with the name "Peace on Earth". This special program was led by military bishop Bernhard Felmberg and was particularly aimed at the soldiers who do not have to spend Christmas at home, but in a barracks in Lithuania. The message was clear: While many would like to enjoy peaceful holidays at home, these soldiers do an important service to secure peace in Eastern Europe, as part of the NATO operational group Enhanced Forward Presence. The service reminded of the use of the troops and included moving reports from military pastor Florian Hemme, who works on behalf of the Bundeswehr in Lithuania, as on news.de

The musical design of the service took over a wind quintet of the marine music corps Wilhelmshaven and thus ensured a solemn atmosphere. Anyone who missed the transmission has the opportunity to catch up with the service in the ZDF-Mediathek , where viewers can stream a variety of TV programs as a video on Demand. However, there was no announcement of a repetition on classic television, which should only increase the demand for online access to the program.

In a time when the global community strives for peace, this service not only underlined the efforts of the soldiers abroad, but also the challenges with which many people are confronted for Christmas. He focused on the absence of relatives during the holidays and brought the background of the military service to the eyes of the audience, who in the past period long for moments of peace and reflection.
