Direct connection: 26 days from Ningbo to Wilhelmshaven!

A groundbreaking step for the Jade-Weser port in Wilhelmshaven! A brand new direct connection will link the port to the world's largest port in Ningbo, China. In just 26 days, containers can now be transported from Asia to Germany. The first container ship test is scheduled for December 30, 2023, and the anticipation is huge!

At the prestigious China International Import Expo in Shanghai, the declaration of intent was signed for this revolutionary connection. The container freighter of the shipping company Kawa Shipping will be loaded with 2400 standard containers (TEU) and arrive in Wilhelmshaven on January 24, 2025. This connection is only offered in direct traffic without detours via other ports - a real advantage for logistics!

unique unique selling point

André Heim, sales manager internationally at the Jade-Weser-Port-Marketing Society, announced that from mid-2025 a continuous timetable under the name "CEX" (China-European Express) should be established. A container ship will drive directly from Ningbo to Wilhelmshaven at least once a month. This new connection is a valuable addition to the existing line traffic, which takes significantly longer because it controls several ports and drives around the Cape of Good Hope.

Marc-Oliver Hauswald, Managing Director of the Marketing Society, described the direct connection as an "important milestone". It gives the Jade-Weser-Port an outstanding unique selling point compared to other European Northern Drange ports. The initiative comes from the Zhejiang Seaport Logistics Group, which recently settled in the logistics park at the Jade-Weser-Port. In addition, a continuous rail transport from Wilhelmshaven to Budapest is planned, which further optimizes logistics.

The container envelope in Wilhelmshaven already shows positive developments: in the first half of the year it rose by 1.8 percent to around 298,000 TEU. With the new connection to Ningbo and the upcoming "Gemini Cooperation" from Hapag-Lloyd and Maersk, the cargo will continue to increase. A new upswing for Germany's only deep water port!
