Christian Jopt from Wilhelmshaven: Dream of Hawaii in under 11 hours!

Hawaii, USA - A dream becomes reality! The 46-year-old Wilhelmshaven Christian Jopt dared to do it and mastered the triathlon in Hawaii. After his impressive qualification last year in Denmark, he fought himself through the Triathlon World Cup in the long distance and crossed the finish line in a fantastic time of 10:38:56 hours. He landed among the 2287 participants in the remarkable number 1032!

JOPT delivered an impressive performance: he mastered the 3.86 kilometers swimming in 1:10:03 hours, cycled 180 kilometers in 5:27:06 hours and completed the marathon in 3:50:34 hours. For him, this competition was the hardest of his previous career, as he himself says: "That was the hardest competition that I have ever completed." But despite the exertion, he showed strength and perseverance. In his age group M 45-49 he reached 148th place!

Change from diagnosis to success

The story of Christian Jopt is particularly inspiring because he has been fighting multiple sclerosis since 2014. He got his qualification for Hawaii through a surprisingly strong appearance in Denmark, where he improved his personal best time by more than 20 minutes with 9:32:42 hours. He proved that, despite health challenges, you can achieve great goals. However, the big winner of the day in Hawaii was the German Patrick Lange, who won in a new record time of 7:35:53 hours.
