Book festival in Wilhelmshaven: thousands of bargains for children's literature!

At the exciting book festival of the Catholic public library in Wilhelmshaven, the book lovers flocked to the opening on Saturday morning! Thousands of books were waiting to find new owners for only 50 cents per title. A real bargain paradise! From novels to children's literature to cooking and handicraft books- the selection was overwhelming. Monika Stamm, employee of the library, estimated the amount of books offered between 5,000 and 10,000.

The rush was enormous! Visitors searched the huge selection and effortlessly found their favorite books. So another woman helped another when looking for a children's book with horses. "We expect 500 to 800 book lovers," announced library manager Stephanie Rauhut optimistically. The "bookworm" Angelika Lowe, regular guest of these events, praised the quality and diversity that cannot be found anywhere else in Wilhelmshaven. Every book buyer could make “bargains” here who would cost around 25 euros in stores!

book festival lives from book donations

In addition, the valuable books are largely based on donations, with only a few copies of the library. Monika Stamm explained that the festival should take place twice a year, with the organization of the volunteers a challenge.

The best thing about it? The entire proceeds flow into the purchase of new children's books in order to enable small readers to access the world of literature easier. "Our library is an important point of contact for children who do not make it to the city library," said Stamm. It is a truly captivating event that not only fueled the passion for reading, but also actively helps to expand the offer for the youngest in the city!
