In the Wesermarsch, more and more supermarkets are relying on self-service coffers, also known as SB cash registers, in order to modernize and accelerate purchasing. The Famila market in Brake, the only one of its kind in the region, will be equipped with these innovative health insurers by mid-2025. "The SB coffers enable more flexible purchase, especially for smaller purchases," explains Sophie Bloser from J. Bünting Beteiligungs AG. Albert Mumme, chairman of the district disabled advisory board Wesermarsch, expresses concerns: "I do not go to the SB cash registers, these cost jobs." He emphasizes the importance of personal contact when shopping.

The SB cash registers should not only make purchasing easier, but also reduce waiting times. Bloser assures that the introduction of these health insurers should not lead to less open regular health insurers. "In times of low customer frequency, it is sufficient to open fewer health insurers," she says. Nevertheless, the question remains whether the SB cash registers could actually serve as a replacement for the staff. Security is also very important: the area is monitored by video, and leaving is only possible with a printed receipt.
