Globs are increasing: Wesermarsch fights with seepage water problems!
Brake, Deutschland - The waste disposal in the Wesermarsch will be more expensive from 2026! The Wesermarsch waste management company has announced a fee increase, which is due to rising costs and the disposal of seepage water. In a meeting of the Waste Management Business Committee, Managing Director Hans Conze-Wichmann said that the fees for the period from 2026 to 2028 have to be increased, although the amounts of waste are expected to remain stable for 2025. An increase for 2025 is not possible up to and including 2025 due to the fees already specified.
reasons for the increase
The main cause of the planned increase in fees is the increasing costs of the Wesermarsch disposal, which is responsible for the waste disposal in the district. In the 2025 economic plan, the increase in personnel costs and operational expenses of 2.5 percent each. The district holds 51 percent of the shares in Gib, while 49 percent are at Karl Nehlsen GmbH & Co. KG.
Another cost factor is the problem with the leachate. In the winter of 2023/24, over 30,000 cubic meters of seepage water had to be disposed of, which the fee payers burdened with over 700,000 euros. District Member of the District Reiner Gollenstede criticized that the leachate problem was not treated sufficiently and warned of future heavy rain events that could further tighten the Situation. The waste management company is now looking for solutions to expand the landfill capacity, which will take time.
