Now choose your JAV: Strong voice for trainees in the Uelzen district!
In the Uelzen district, the trainees get up and take the initiative! From now on, young employees have the opportunity to choose their “Junior Works Council”, also known as the youth and trainee representative (JAV). This choice is not only of great symbolism, but also of considerable practical importance for the approximately 1,800 trainees in the region. The IG Bau, the industrial association Bauen-Agrar-Umwelt, has announced this election process as a "call to the operating booth of the company". Dieter Großmann, the chairman of the IG Bau Bau Nord-Ost-Niedersachsen, emphasizes the importance of this representation: "It's about a strong voice for trainees."
The JAV acts as a direct mouthpiece for young people in companies, which means that they can forward problems and concerns of the trainees directly to the corporate management. "Young people simply have a different 'operational glasses on their nose'," explains Großmann and refers to the fresh ideas and perspectives that young employees can bring in the companies. This choice offers young people a platform to tackle their individual problems and find solutions. The influence of a JAV ranges from the improvement of the training conditions to the processing of concerns such as unpaid overtime or support for the vocational school, as Claudia Praetorius from the "Junge Bau" explains.

Additional information about the elections and the possibility of founding a "young works council" are available online at www.jav-portal.de . Trainees who need support in the election can contact Claudia Praetorius, the Federal Youth Secretary of IG Bau. Your contact details are Jungbau@igbau.de. This gives young employees the urgently needed support to make their voice audible in the company.
Basically, the JAV elections offer the young employees in the district a unique opportunity to become active and to set the course for future-oriented training. It remains exciting to observe how the elections develop and which topics are placed on the agenda of the new JAV.
