Uelzen's city wall: Historical monument is urgently needed new care!

In Uelzen, the renovation work on the historic city wall on Turmstrasse begins. The work is part of a comprehensive project to preserve this important monument, which is considered an outstanding testimony of the medieval and early modern city history. The renovation is divided into three sections, starting with the first sub -area in Turmstraße, where measures for cleaning, protection against plant roots and the exchange of stones and the renewal of the joints are necessary. According to information from NDR , a tree is also felled, since the root work of the ash endangers the stability of the city wall.

The renovation measures should start in the coming weeks and pursue the goal of maintaining the city wall for future generations. City spokeswoman Ute Krüger emphasizes the special importance of the individual monument and emphasizes the protection that he is granted. The total costs of the renovation amount to significantly more than one million euros. Around 356,000 euros are already planned for the first section in Turmstrasse. The necessary funds are to be secured by an application for urban development funds from the “Living Centers” program at the state of Lower Saxony, whereby a decision on the funding is expected in the second half of 2025.

renovation in several sections
