Winter tire change: act now before the weather turns!

Stade, Deutschland - Time is pushing! The change from summer to winter tires is now essential, even if the temperatures still appear mild. In Germany there is no general winter tire obligation, but a situational obligation: for black ice, snow and other winter conditions, vehicles must be equipped with winter tires. If you don't stick to it, you not only risk a fine of between 60 and 120 euros, but also points in the traffic offender card!

new regulations for winter tires

From October this year, a new regulation applies: Only all-year and winter tires with the alpine symbol, a mountain pictogram with snowflake, are allowed. Tires with only the M+S marking are no longer permitted in winter road conditions. The legally required minimum profile depth of 1.6 millimeters also applies to winter tires, with at least four millimeters recommended for safety reasons.

Important to know: Some vehicles such as motorcycles and agricultural commercial vehicles are excluded from the duty of winter tires. But what happens if you are involved in an accident with summer tires? In addition to the fine, gross negligence and problems with car liability insurance can threaten. Even in the event of an accident through no fault of your own, difficulties can occur if you are traveling with summer tires.

The workshops are already very busy! Therefore, it is advisable to make an appointment for the tire change as soon as possible in order to be safe in the event of a sudden change in weather. Do not hesitate - security is going on!
