Sénégal: The lions train for crucial duels against Malawi!

The national football team of Senegals started on Monday afternoon with their preparations for the upcoming qualification games for the African Football Championship 2025 (CAN). This training took place in the Annex of the Stade Abdoulaye Wade in Diamniadio. The new interim coaches Pape Thiaw and Teddy Peller led the first exercise unit to be accessible to the press and the audience.

A total of 16 players took part in the first training session, including some prominent names such as Sadio Mané, Kalidou Koulibaly and Gana Gueye. Fresh talents such as Lamine Camara and Seydou Sano are also part of the squad. With this strong mix of experienced players and young talents, the team gives a clear sign that it would like to be in the best condition to meet the expectations of the President of the Senegalese Football Federation (FSF), Augustin Senghor, and the technical director, Mayacine Mar.

The schedule

The first two games against Malawi are scheduled for the 11th and 15th October. On Friday, October 11th, the Lions in the Stade Abdoulaye Wade in Diamniadio will meet the Malawian national team. The second leg will be held four days later, on October 15, in the BINGU National Stadium in Lilongwe, the capital of Malawis. These encounters are of great importance for the team because they are an important opportunity to secure the qualification for the upcoming CAN 2025.

In addition to the games against Malawi, other teams in group section are also active. Burkina Faso and Burundi will also compete against each other, whereby the first leg on October 10th in the Stade Olympique Alassane Ouattara in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, is scheduled. The second leg will take place on October 14th in the Stade Félix Houphouët-Bigny.
