Strike in Beckedorf: IG Metall demands 7% more wages for employees!
Beckedorf. In a dramatic outcry for better working conditions, the employees of Federal Mogul in Beckedorf have their work on Monday morning at 8:45 a.m. Laid down! Almost half of the approximately 120 employees followed the call from IG Metall, which affects the entire north. This strike is the prelude to a larger conflict in the metal and electrical industry that rages in Lower Saxony!
IG Metall demands a wage increase of seven percent over a year and 170 euros more for trainees for the over 100,000 employees in Lower Saxony. But the employers are not ready to give in to this claim! The Lower Saxony Metall employers' association rejects the claims as excessive and only offers an increase of 1.7 percent from July 2025 and 1.9 percent from July 2026 with a term of 27 months. A real slap in the face for the workers!
dangerous differentiation!
Friedrich Hartmann, the first representative of IG Metall Nienburg-Stadthagen, warns: "The required differentiation of employers could mean that special payments are canceled in poor sales!" This could mean a minus round for many employees if the required inflation compensation bonus 2023 and 2024 is not paid. A real nightmare for the employees who rely on their hard -earned funds!
The mood at the strike was good, according to Hartmann, and the employees were solidarity. After about 1.5 hours they ended the strike, but the conflict is far from over! While the negotiations in Lower Saxony and Schaumburg continue, the machines will stand out at Luehr filter and Bornemann tomorrow. The metal and electrical industry is on the verge of an explosive change, and the workers are ready to fight for their rights!
