Musikschule Bückeburg: 150,000 euros in grant for 2025!

Bückeburg. The Musikschule Schaumburg fairy tale singer is faced with a financial challenge! For 2025, the association applied for a grant of 150,000 euros from the city of Bückeburg and an additional 175,000 euros from the Schaumburg district. Manolis Stagakis, the head of the music school, emphasizes that these funds are necessary to cover all costs after the previous grants of 130,000 euros each are not sufficient for the current year. The situation is tense because the music school rely on this financial support in order to be able to maintain its extensive offer.

The greatest editions of the music school are the maintenance of the building in Georgstrasse 7 and the personnel costs. The latter has increased due to a trend-setting judgment of the Federal Social Court, known as the "Herrenberg judgment". This judgment caused excitement nationwide because it concerns the working conditions of fee forces at music schools. In order to avoid legal problems, the music school has decided to take five of its nine fees into employment relationships subject to social security contributions. This has increased the number of permanent teachers from ten to fifteen.

The music school also receives annual subsidies from the state of Lower Saxony. Stagakis hopes for 30,000 euros for 2025, but is only planning to be 25,000 euros. The Lower Saxony Ministry of Science and Culture has already signaled that the financing of the music schools in the country is very important and that support is to be further increased in the coming years.

The discussions about the requested grant of 150,000 euros will surely keep local politics. The Committee on Culture and Tourism of the City Council will deal with this application on Wednesday, November 13th, in a public meeting. The tension increases, because the future of the music school depends on these decisions!
